CAC interview ON PCGS & NGC coin grading
MeThinks :Surrender: that this is rather good to understand.
I always say: "GO back to the Basics!" ************************************************** ** http://www.caccoin.com/cac-in-the-ne...maurice-rosen/ Enjoy... |
Re: CAC interview ON PCGS & NGC coin grading
Will you be submitting your slabs to CAC? I am now thinking I should be iin no hurry to send in my proof buffs, unslabbed UHRs etc for grading. I think I will wait to see how this all plays out.
Thanks for that interesting information HS :23_1_22: :coolbeer: |

Re: CAC interview ON PCGS & NGC coin grading
To the above dear friends over the years.
************************************************** The reason I posted the interview was to show the MINDSET of the dealers. It also shows the why and how of the NEW marketing programs for the slabbers. Putting 10 years of coin study into a "word BITE" herein is difficult but let me try. Sometimes these coin dealers remind me of a dentist trying to get your last BUCK out of you on a tooth that is questionable at best. Yes, there are some top graded A coins out there that's why and HOW PCGS just started their new programs. Of couse they AIN'T cheap, either - see the dentist remark above. After just finding and reading the article I went out the HILLS and checked on my entire $20 Saint slabbed collection. They were about 99% okay for the grade they had on them. The ONE I liked the best was a POLISHED 1909 Double "D" one slabbed by ANACS as an ODDBALL - but again that's another story. The bottom line herein is that the DEALERS make MONEY when YOU sell and BUY. The slabbers make money when you slab. If they can MIX the two together (CAC, PCGS) they can make more money. They are like bankers who hate it if you do not buy their paper whatevers. They really want you to turn your coins around through them for the commission and those 20% (some up to 40%) NUMI fees too - they were not born yesterday as a country BUMPKIN. They want to create fear in the marketplace - because I think the business is slowed down there too. Like bankers or stock brokers they want you to TRADE. If you are smart and BUY good looking coins for eye appeal in a NGC or PCGS slab anywhere from (even AU58) MS62 to MS66 in gold ($10 to $20) you'll be OKAY if: 1) you chart the prices and BUY LOW 2) you need to go to a show or to a dealer's place and deal face to face 3) you need to understand that the gold slabs will do rather good when the gold price starts up again 4) remember that only 1% is in right now; and 99% will start to flock in later. when you go to your shop and 50 people are there throwing money on the counter - that's when the market is peaking. :bull-smile: 5) DYODD on modern slabs - beware. 6) I also think PCGS just did an business "GOTCHA thingie" to CAC I kinda wonder what payback will be? 7) slabs and even mint packaging are IN a different basket to bullion. My guess is that bullion will go up but that slabbed $20 gold will really see a bigger appreciation because the SHEEPLE will want to buy something they can depend on - period. They are not all going to run out and BUY $500 Fisch Gold checkers, and high tech bullion and coin checkers; SO they will pay handsomely for that SLABBING service already done for them. IMVHO |
Re: CAC interview ON PCGS & NGC coin grading
I trust PCGS and NGC more than CAC, so why would I want CAC to confirm a PCGS slabbed coin? If you don't trust your MS-65 PCGS coin, would having a little green CAC sticker really make you feel better?
